Silk scarf made from up-cycled silk saris in the traditional "gudri" way of sewing many layers of material together. Originally the Village ladies would sit together, outside, under a tree exchanging gossip and sewing their old saris together to make thick blankets for the cold winter nights. Often 6 or 7 old sari's would be sewn together, similarly to the Quilting of England and America. Now this technique is world famous and used to make heirloom clothing pieces. Gudri has been used here to sew two layers of silk sari material together, making this shawl reversible. The measurements can vary slightly because this is real handwork. we recommend hand washing.
